URNI Strengthens Partnership with Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) to Promote Nigeria’s Positive Global Image

The Unveiling and Rebranding Nigeria Initiative (URNI) paid a courtesy visit to the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja. The visit, marks a defining moment in URNI’s commitment to partnering with credible national institutions to rebrand Nigeria and project her positive image both home and abroad.

The URNI delegation was led by Brigadier General David Buba Shaljaba (Rtd.), Chairman of the Board of Trustees, alongside Mrs. Obiageri Ndulue, Lead Strategist, Mr. Emegha Joshua, Assistant Program Manager, and members URNI vibrant media team.

During the meeting, URNI presented a copy of the maiden edition of the Faces of Patriotism (FOP) Book a publication that celebrates exemplary Nigerians inspiring patriotism and national pride as well as the URNI Strategic Roadmap outlining the Initiative’s vision and plan. In turn, the NIDCOM team, led by its Secretary, Dr. Sule Yakubu Bassi, warmly received the delegation and presented the National Diaspora Policy (2021), which estimates that over 17 million Nigerians live in the diaspora, underscoring the vast potential of this global community as a force for national development.

The meeting was both engaging and insightful, providing a platform to share values, exchange ideas, and explore opportunities for collaboration. Discussions centered on mobilizing the Nigerian diaspora for cultural diplomacy, youth engagement, positive storytelling, and economic empowerment, aligning seamlessly with URNI’s long-standing mission to inspire patriotism and national unity since its establishment in 2007.

URNI also underscored its global reach through partnerships with diaspora-based organizations, particularly the Friends of Nigeria in Europe (FON), co-chaired by Mr. John Okoro in France, These collaborations strengthen cultural exchange and mobilize diaspora resources for developmental causes in Nigeria.

Acknowledging NIDCOM’s trailblazing efforts, URNI commended Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, OON, Chairman/CEO, for her visionary leadership in championing the welfare, protection, and empowerment of Nigerians abroad. The Commission’s tireless work in diaspora investment, advocacy, and policy development resonates deeply with URNI’s vision of building a Nigeria that commands respect globally.

The visit ended on a high note, with both organizations reaffirming their shared commitment to, Hon Bassi also informed URNI of her flagship programs and encouraged URNI to plugin for more engagements

In conclusion, Dr. Sule urged the Unveiling Nigeria team to consistently engage with the Commission whenever projects are initiated, as a means of fostering deeper collaboration and synergy between both organizations. URNI, on its part, strongly believes that this partnership with NIDCOM holds the potential to be truly transformative a catalyst for mobilizing Nigerians at home and in the diaspora to unite their strengths, creativity, and patriotism in building the Nigeria of our collective dreams.
